About Kerry

Kerry Chester is a veteran Orange County musician based in Newport and Huntington Beach, California. In addition to his tenure with The Surftones and Reef Brothers, he has played with several groups throughout his 40 year career.

Over the years, Kerry has been involved in a wide range of musical projects that reflect both versatility and longevity. Beyond his work with The Surftones and The Reef Brothers, he founded his blues-driven project, The Kerry Chester Trio, and also performed with groups such as The Dolphins, The Ascenders, and Harvest Flight.

In the late 1970s, Kerry played with The Dolphins, one of the house bands at Hollywood's legendary Whiskey A Go-Go. In 2002, his career expanded internationally to Brazil, where he was invited to record blues piano with the 13-member group Neto.

Alongside live performances, he has contributed to extensive session work, including recording “Teardrops” with Greg Morgan at his own White Sands Studio, continuing a career built on decades of steady musicianship and collaboration.
